Extract (Open) an ISO File for Free with 7-Zip

Posted: May 12, 2009 in Computers and Internet
Do you have an ISO file from MSDN or Technet and want to save time and media (good for the environment, too).  Then install the open source zip file tool 7-Zip and extract that ISO with a right-click of your mouse. 7-Zip is a standard install on all my systems and I love the shell integration (x86, and x64) for quick extracts.

7-Zip can extract the following formats:

Compress and Extract: 7z, ZIP, GZIP, BZIP2 and TAR

Extract only: ARJ, CAB, CHM, CPIO, DEB, DMG, HFS, ISO, LZH, LZMA, MSI, NSIS, RAR, RPM, UDF, WIM, XAR and Z.

There’s even a couple extra compressed file formats you might come across that you would like to have an easy look inside.
